Tasso, Torquato - Torquato Tasso's Gerusalemme Liberata with figures by Giambatista Piazzetta to the royal majesty of Maria Theresa of Austria Venice, printed by Giambatista Albrizzi q. Girol., 1745. In 2nd, 452 x 310 mm. Frontispiece printed in red and black, intaglio vignette on title page depicting allegory of the city of Venice, portrait of the dedicatee drawn by Piazzetta and engraved by Polanzani, each canto (20) is preceded by a superb table card with coat of arms and dedication to ever-changing personages, 20 head vignettes, 20 culs-de-lampe (6 of which are full-page), 21 historiated capilettera, and a final plate in the round in which Piazzetta and his friend Albrizzi are recognizable, PERFECT AND FRESH EXAMPLE of the first edition, in sec.19th century in full marbled leather with gold decoration to plates and spine, slight abrasions to spine and hinges. Ex libris to the counterplate by Edward Montagu Stuart Grandville.
