Spiro, Eugen (Breslau 1874 - 1972 New York), half nude, executed in 1913, young woman with thoughtfully inclined head, after bathing with towel, painted in a delicate style in Impressionism, oil on canvas, signed and dated 1913 upper right, 65 x 54.5 cm, later frame 73.5 x 62.5 cm, provenance: from a private collection in Hesse. Eugen Spiro studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich from 1894, became a master student of Franz von Stuck in 1897, a member of the Munich Secession from 1900 (until 1933), exhibited at the Glaspalast Munich, was also a member of the Berlin Secession from 1904, from 1906 to 1914 he went to Paris, he belonged to the Café du Dôme circle of painters, there he became friends with Hans Purrmann, Spiro taught at the Akadémie Moderne, which was associated with the Nabis group of artists. 4347-015
