Mainz from 1908/09, where he was a teacher at the Kunstgewerbeschule, in 1910 he moved to Berlin, trained as an architect under Peter Behrens a. Hermann Muthesius, after 1930 he studied in Rome, Paris, Hamburg, Cologne, from 1934 he was a member of the Berlin Secession, his friends included Werner Gilles a. George Grosz.
