Large mixed lot of table accessories and fittings, mainly by Wilhelm Wolff Pforzheim, 2nd half 20th cent, gilded metal, over 40 pieces & 30 pieces of cutlery: a bowl (33 x 26), a large leaf bowl (35 x 29 cm) and 6 glass coasters (d: 11 cm) with floral and leaf decor, in Baroque style, a large platter with glass and rose decor (d: 35 x 29 cm), 2 bowls with floral and leaf decor, in Baroque style. (d: 35,5 cm), 2 bowls with humped walls (d: 23 cm, one bowl more rubbed), 2 round bowls on three feet (d: 25 and 23 cm) and an oval bowl (l: 30 cm) with woven band, a bowl (d 22,5 cm), a round platter (d: 25,5 cm), a rectangular platter (24,5 x 33 cm). A copy of the collector’s notes, no. 255, accompanies this lot. Armand Basi (1924-2009) was a Spanish businessman and fashion designer, co-founder of the fashion firm bearing his name. He was a Japanese art enthusiast and amassed a large collection of netsuke in his lifetime. In 1948, along with his brother Josep, Armand Basi founded a small knitting company inspired by their mother Mercé Sabi's knitted sweaters. By the end of the 1950s the business had expanded into a large textiles company, opening a factory on Balcells Street in Barcelona in 1958. In 1961–62, the Basis signed an exclusive contract with Lacoste to manufacture and distribute Lacoste products in Spain. In 1986, Basi launched his eponymous fashion brand, which produced accessories, perfume, jewelry and watches, as well as clothing in more than 400 stores across Spain, Europe, North America and Asia.
