Such was its success that in 1996, Dodge launched a coupe version of its Viper, called the GTS. For the occasion, the engine was upgraded to 450 hp. Airbags and air conditioning were also added. Based on the GTS, Chrysler, with the help of Oreca, launches the VIPER GTS R, which goes on to win 4 Le Mans races in its class.
