The former trainee of Max Pechstein surprises in this very early work with an enormous splendour of colour in bright shades of pink and white. Full-body portrait of a person, oversized head ("Der Kluge"). Signed and dated lower right. Signed again on the reverse, as well as inscribed and dated "Berlin 1965". Thick, impasto loss of colour, slight craquelure in some areas. Plate 81 x 41 cm, in a plain black and gold frame 86 x 45 cm.
