Sheet has become detached from the mat and was subsequently glued back on. Inscribed by Bleuler himself on the reverse.

Selten. - Ludwig Salvator (1847-1915), Erzherzog von Österreich und Prinz von Toskana, ließ sich 1867 auf Mallorca nieder und widmete sich ganz seinen wissenschaftlichen Studien. Die Ergebnisse seiner Sammlung und Systematisierung von Daten und Informationen über die Balearen veröffentlichte er zwischen 1869-1891 in einer großangelegten Monographie, die neun Bände umfasste. - Die zahlreichen Illustrationen zeigen u.a. He published the results of his collection and systematisation of data and information about the Balearic Islands between 1869-1891 in a large-scale monograph that comprised nine volumes. - The numerous illustrations show, among other things, landscapes, portraits, tools and examples of music. - Throughout foxing. As a landscape painter, he mainly painted motifs from Italy, Morocco, England and the Swiss Alps. The feeling of the vastness and grandeur of the mountain world is expressed in the harmonious composition and warm colours, whereby his encounter with Ferdinand Hodler is very significant. ...", oil on canvas, c. 1940, signed "W. F. Burger" lower right, original artist's label on the reverse of the stretcher, here titled, signed and inscribed ""Alpweg mit Dent Blanche" W.F. Burger, Rüschlikon", also old owner's label "Robert Aeschbach, Löwenstr. 11 Zürich", originally framed, folded dimensions approx. 48 x 64.5 cm.
