Volume 1. – [4], XXIII, [I], 392, II p., 21 plates; Volume 2. – 355, [3] p., 12 plates; 25x17 cm. Illustrations by V.F. Timm: numerous illustrations on separate sheets, vignettes, and decorations. Each volume in half-leather binding of the period, cloth headbands, gold embossing on upper covers and spines, moiré-patterned endpapers. In good condition. Rubbing to bindings, spine restoration (renewed leather part on spine of Volume 2), owner's inscriptions on endpapers and title page (Volume 1). The famous ironic poem by Ivan Petrovich Myatlev (1796–1844) about a landowner from Tambov, recounting her travels across Western Europe, is a parody of travel notes by N. Karamzin. The poem enjoyed immense popularity and was renowned as one of the funniest works in Russian literature.
