"There are copies of each volume with Claude Barbin's name on the title. This first edition of Racine's works is highly sought-after." Le Petit, who also describes the regular presence of the edition of Phèdre at the end of this collective edition, points out that this is the second original edition (it is now established, according to Ivan Barko's research - "Du nouveau sur l'édition originale de Phèdre", Australian Journal of French Studies, III, 1966, pp. 282-311 -, that the second edition was printed immediately after the first, by the same firm and on the same stock of paper, the composition having only been tightened by the protector so as to reduce the text from 78 to 74 pages). The verso of title II is the first printing (before the printed mention of Phèdre et Hippolyte). Missing cuts (without loss of text) at the top of the titles of the 2 volumes. Ex-libris JM.
