Each volume in a composite period binding, gilt edges. Label of the binding workshop: "Fabrika N.V. Gaevskogo" in the upper right corner of each volume. The front side of the publisher's original cover is preserved in the binding. In good condition. Minor wear to bindings and edges. At the bottom field of each spine, there is a gilt super ex-libris: "V.S." Presentation inscription from the editor, Dr. med. V.I. Ramm, on the front cover (Vol. 1) and on the title page (Vol. 2): "To the esteemed V.Ya. Svetlov in good memory / V.I. Ramm / 11/XI 98 (Vol. 1) / 5/V 99 (Vol. 2)." Valerian Yakovlevich Svetlov (real name and surname: Valerian Ivchenko; 1860-1935) – Russian writer, prose writer, historian of ballet, ballet critic, playwright-librettist, author of the book "Contemporary Ballet" (1911). The author of the book is Herman Heinrich Ploss (1819-1885) – German anthropologist, ethnographer, gynecologist, author of numerous cultural-historical and anthropological works dedicated to gender issues.
