Paul Lacroix (1806-1884) was a French writer better known under the pseudonym "Bibliophile Jacob", historian. He served as a librarian at the Arsenal Library in Paris. Lacroix was remarkably prolific, though not everything published under his name was his own work. His name often functioned as a brand, similar to how Dumas-father's signature appeared on countless novels that were considered his works. Lacroix authored a series of historical or pseudo-historical novels.
