Hauer, Johann Thomas (1748-1820) after a drawing by Felix Speth, Mainau Island from the South, coloured outline etching, around 1785. Inscription below the depiction in a separate zone: "L'Isle de Meinau dans le lac de Constance, du coté du midi. The island of Meinau in Lake Constance from the midday side". Signature left and right below the image "Dessiné d'aprés la nature par Spaeth. - Engraved by Hauer". First print after Schefold published around 1785 by Nikolaus Matt in Constance. View of the island with castle complex in the middle of the surrounding Lake Constance landscape from the shore near Egg, on the left wooden connecting bridge to the Mainau forest on the Bodanrück, vineyards on the southern slope of the island. In the foreground walkers and winegrowers, in the background the Swabian ridge, on the left Überlingen, on the right the monastery church of Birnau. Print plate 31 x 44 cm, frame 51 x 61 cm.
