Moud carpet. Iran, first half of the twentieth century. Hand-knotted wool. It has marks of use and wear. Measurements: 120 x 155 cm. Hand knotted wool rug. Red field with synthetic vegetal decorations. The borders acquire special prominence in this piece, given their number and variety in designs and colors. The city of Moud is located south of Mashad and south of Birdjan in northeastern Iran. Moud carpets often have heratids motifs, with or without medallion placed centrally. They are sometimes divided into Moud Mahi and Moud garden. The first mentioned, Mahi, often has a beige color with a red or light blue tinge and a star-shaped medallion. The other, Garden, is reminiscent of Bakhtiar carpets, illustrated with a curvilinear garden ornament.
