An oil on canvas painting attributed to Satish Gujral (1925-2020). The boldly colored painting depicts a rider on a heavily abstracted horse made primarily of belts. The surface has a rough texture that plays interestingly with the light. The artist's signature can be found on the verso. Gujral received numerous awards including the Da Vinci award for lifetime achievement from Mexico, honors from the Lalit Kala Akademi, and the Padma Vibhushan from the Indian government. He passed away in New Delhi on 26 March 2020. Dimensions: 35 x 35 in., (89 x 89 cm.) Some cracks in places from being rolled up in storage, though no significant loss to paint. When straightened, cracks are almost imperceptible. Minor loss to paint in places. Unstretched.
