CUZQUEÑA SCHOOL 18th century Saint Michael the Archangel with shield Oil on canvas Measurements 98.5 x 69.5 cm On this canvas Saint Michael is represented following the prototype designed by Zurbarán and reproduced by members of his workshop and by New World painters. He wears military clothing from the 16th century and carries a shield, a command staff in his right hand and a plumed helmet.

CUZQUEÑA SCHOOL 18th century Archangel Saint Michael defeating the demon Oil on canvas Measurements 94 x 71 cm Saint Michael represented following the model created by Martin de Vos around 1580, and engraved by Hieronymus Wierix in 1584. He is depicted as a young man with wavy hair, wearing a military suit, anatomical cuirass, paludamento, tunic and winged. He wears a feathered helmet, sword, scales and treads on the demon.
