He began his career as a stylist and tailor in Milan, then in New York, and has maintained this strong link with couture ever since. His works combine classical painting and embroidery. The compositions feature macabre characters (skeletons, insects, etc.) inspired by the untimely death of the artist's parents, but also by the works of Matthias Grünewald, Albrecht Dürer and Hieronymous Bosch. Angelo Filomeno creates memento mori, "very beautiful things illustrating very bad psychological subjects". He has had numerous solo exhibitions around the world. He also took part in the 52nd Venice Biennale and is represented in major public collections (Centre Georges Pompidou in France, Museum of 21st Century Contemporary Art in Japan, Museum of Art and Design in New York...).
