He studied jewelry and became a skilled diamond cutter before founding his own company in the late 1950s. Initially, he handcrafted jewelry using diamonds, precious gemstones, and pearls; for his talent, innovation, and the artistry that he brought to the industry, he was honored with many design awards, such as the prestigious Diamond International Award in London which he won for five consecutive years. In the 1970s, he embraced the challenge of designing more affordable pieces for a much wider audience and decided to start producing fashion jewelry.
