PAIR OF SMALL CORRIDOR CONSOLES IN CARVED WOOD, BEIGE LACQUERED AND RE-GILDED Work from the Turin region circa 1785 - 1805 Rich openwork and carved decoration with wave and laurel friezes The two cambered legs are joined by a short curved strut. Traces of earlier blue and white polychromy. The top is made of a later marble top. However, the absence of a hole for a wooden top confirms that these two small brackets were originally made of marble. Size without marble: 83.5 x 57.5 x 33 cm Marble size: 2.5 x 60.5 x 35.5 cm (One marble has been restored). These very small consoles were designed to hold candles, water glasses and mail next to the bedroom entrances.
