A LOUIS XIV PERIOD "RELIGIOUS" CLOCK IN RED TORTOISESHELL MARQUETRY AND RICHLY DECORATED WITH CHASED AND GILDED BRONZES. decorated with acanthus leaves, female busts, foliage and eight fire pots. The brass dial features twelve pieces of enamel. The disc is graduated with minutes in Arabic numerals. The pediment has a doucine surrounded by an ingot mould. Parisian work, circa 1680/1690. Some alterations and missing parts. The mid-19th-century mechanism is attached. It bears a reference to a silver medal obtained in 1855. The cartouche for the VII is damaged.
