Magnificent festive icon with anastasis. Russia, ca. 1850. H 36.2 cm, W 31.6 cm. Egg tempera on chalk ground. Rectangular wooden panel. Two vertical inserted sponki. Kowtscheg. Gilt background and nimbuses, Church Slavonic tituli. Fine miniature painting. In the central field Anastasis - Christ's descent into hell and resurrection; the surrounding twelve registers show the "Dodekaorton", the twelve main feast days of the Orthodox Church. Bulge on the upper edge with the Holy Trinity. Impressive Orthodox domestic icon and a great collector's item! With expert opinion! Excellent condition with only minor craquelure. Small reworking in the right margin. Provenance: Ex collection R.K., North Rhine-Westphalia, before 1980.

The center depicts the Resurrection and Ascension of Christ surrounded by ten panels with the Passion of Christ. The outer circle shows twelve panels with high feasts of the Orthodox church year.
