A LARGE RARE PAIR OF CHINESE 15TH CENTURY CARVED STONE MING DYNASTY YONGLE PERIOD BUDDHIST LIONS Each lion is carved seated on its haunches, wearing a collar hung with a bell suspended above the chest, one beast has its left paw resting on a cub and a cub on its back, the other has its right paw resting on a ball and a cub. Both have bulging eyes and a fierce expression with barred teeth and curled manes the plinth base carved with, both with inscription YongLe Year Winter Made by Wei Shi Xuan Yuan. Height-110cm, Width-65cm, Depth-44cm.
