A flamed mahogany veneered half-moon chest of drawers, opening to two doors on the front and two on the sides with sliding shelves and framed by four sheathed columns topped with caryatid busts of women. The interior features two small drawers and shelves. It stands on four plinth feet. Ornamentation of chased ormolu, caryatids, lock escutcheons, falling garlands and falls. Grey-veined white marble top (minor wear and tear and small interior element to be refixed). Height : 100 cm - Width : 168 cm - Depth : 66 cm Chapuis Jean-Joseph (1765-1864) A Brussels cabinetmaker active until 1830, his important production is characterized by furniture in the Retour d'Egypte or Empire style, with characteristic ebony veneer inlays on the seats.
