This osella has the obverse with the indication of A. II paired with the reverse of A. I. This may have been a minting error during the issuance of the doge's second series of osellas in 1689, but we think it more likely to be a new production of the osella from the previous year. This osella in fact celebrated the reconquest of the Peloponnese and perhaps, for celebratory purposes, more specimens were struck but with the indication of the current year, the second. However, the fact remains that we are dealing with a specimen of great interest and sure rarity! - BB
