Ɏ HOJITSU: AN IVORY NETSUKE OF DAIKOKU AND EBISU ON A BOAT Ɏ HOJITSU: AN IVORY NETSUKE OF DAIKOKU AND EBISU ON A BOAT Signed Hojitsu 宝實 Japan, 19 th century Depicting Daikoku and Ebisu aboard a boat with a bird shaped bow, the first with his characteristic hat (Daikoku-zukin), seating on a bag, and writing on a book placed above a rice bale, his uchide no kozuchi (magic hammer), placed beside him. Ebisu is shown fishing, with a fish already caught and beginning to emerge from the water. The underside carved with water swirls, with the himotoshi placed through one of them. The back of the boat signed HOJITSU. HEIGHT 3.6 cm Condition: Excellent condition with minor wear. Provenance: Collection Gabor Orszagh, Budapest, Hungary. Trade Certificate: In accordance with new EU regulations that went into effect in January 2022, we have applied for a certificate to sell this item within the EU. We expect the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology to issue the certificate in 4-8 weeks. The item can only be shipped / handed over once the certificate has been issued. This item contains ivory, rhinoceros horn, tortoise shell, and/or some types of tropical wood and is subject to CITES when exporting outside the EU.
