Depiction of the world-famous sculptural group in marble, as it has been on display in the Vatican Museums since 1960, when the forearm found by Ludwig Pollack in 1905 was placed correctly, namely bent instead of stretched, and additions were removed. The original, which was rediscovered in Rome in 1506, depicts the priest Laocoon with his sons, Antiphates and Tymbreus, being strangled by snakes under the curse of the gods.
