Seltenes Berliner Lackvasen Ensemble

Height of the lidded vase: 45.5 cm. Height of the flute vases: 32 cm. Blue artemesia leaf marks to the base, label of the Nicolas Fournery Gallery numbered 511. Berlin, third quarter of the 18th century. Light gray body with white glaze on the inside wall and base. Partially impasto cold painting in red lacquer, white, yellow, blue and manganese. The ensemble consists of a baluster vase with a high hood lid and shishi as well as two flute vases. The ensemble largely corresponds to the pieces listed in the aforementioned literature and is rarely found on the art market. From the time of the Great Elector Frederick William (1640-1688), the Berlin court was particularly fond of the China fashion and examples of the tradition of lacquer painting can be found in Berlin until the end of the 18th century.
