Nymphenburg-Saucière des 18. Jahrhunderts, Dominikus Auliczek (1734 Policka – 1804)

Height: 14.5 cm. Width: 21.5 cm. Depth: 10 cm. Nymphenburg diamond shield impressed mark and model number "O" on the base. Circa 1770. Porcelain with white glaze, elongated in the shape of a shell, on a wavy foot. Handle in the shape of a dolphin, its large, finely crafted head resting against the shell volute, the tail flaring out like a leaf. Auliczek succeeded Franz Anton Bustelli as model master at Nymphenburg in 1765, became inspector in 1773 and court sculptor to Elector Max Joseph III in 1772, also known for his park figures at Nymphenburg. Initially studied in Vienna, Paris, London and Rome; awarded the 1st prize of the Academy by Pope Clemens, from 1762 in Munich. This extremely rare saucière, possibly unique, is associated with the figures for the Elector's court table, which also included a "Triton as Water Steersman", "Triton with Shell Horn" and the "Water Horses".
