AUTUMNAL LANDSCAPE AT SUNSET Oil on hardboard. 33 x 45 cm. Signed and dated "G. Cairati 893" lower left. A small village in the countryside appears calm and quiet at dusk, while the clouds turn pink and the shepherd slowly walks home. In the second phase of his career, Cairati devoted himself increasingly to landscape painting with an elegiac and intimate character. The influences of the masters of the Munich Secession, such as Böcklin, are clearly visible in the Italian landscape painter's dry and subtle strokes. (14010228) (19)
