FARMERS HARVESTING HAY Oil on canvas. 34.2 x 56.8 cm. Signed and inscribed 'K. Stuhlmüller / München' lower right. Under a bright blue sky, covered only by a few harmless white clouds, many farmers are working tirelessly on the hay harvest. In the background, in the direction of the church and the village, a second loaded wagon can already be seen moving away. Stuhlmüller, a member of the Munich Artists' Cooperative and a pupil of Carl Theodor von Piloty, devoted himself to landscapes in his works, which he realized taking into account the impressions of the play of light, rapid brushstrokes and natural colors.
