Ludwig Willroider, 1845 Villach – 1910 Bernried TREE LANDSCAPE WITH STREAM Oil on canvas. 46 x 69 cm. Signed and dated "1906" lower left. The painter is one of the most important representatives of the Munich School of landscape painting. After training at the academy under Ed. Schleich and Adolf Lier, he joined the circle around Christian Mali and Anton Braith and, like them, developed open-air painting, inspired by the Barbizon School. Appointed professor in 1886 and awarded numerous honors, he exhibited in almost all major museums, including the Munich Glaspalast.
