FISHING BOATS Oil on wood. Parquetted. 35 x 51 cm. Signed and dated "Noerr 1870" lower right. Depiction of the shallow body of water and the equally shallow surrounding landscape with a view of the Alps shrouded in mist. In the foreground, on the calm waters of the lake, two canoes are approaching. One with fishermen on board, ready to present their catch, and on the other, potential buyers watching intently. While the background and the water are realized with soft splashes of colour, the figures are rendered with narrative detail. (14010231) (19)
