COWS AT THE TROUGH Oil on canvas. 42.8 x 57 cm. Signed "Otto Strützel" and dated "1884" lower right. Significant work by the artist, executed with the highest quality. In the foreground, a farmer's wife accompanies her cows to the water, while two windmills can be seen in the background. The details of the animals and the reflection of the stream are emphasized by the skilful use of color and white to underline the effect of the sunlight. Literature: Cf.
