PORTRAIT OF FRIEDRICH III ELECTOR AND DUKE OF SAXONY Oil on wood. 65 x 61 cm. The sitter's name inscribed upper right and Cranach's signature below. In decorative frame. Half-length portrait of Frederick III the Wise facing right against a greenish background. He wears a black beret, gray hair and beard and a fur-trimmed cloak over a black robe with a decorated white shirt. He holds a golden crown in his right hand. Well-known original portraits by Cranach were copied many times in a modified form. (1390912) (18)
