VENICE AT SUNSET Oil on canvas, on cardboard. Doubled. 31.5 x 49 cm. Signed "Ricciardi" lower right. Romantic veduta of Riva degli Schiavoni, one of the most important views of the Doge's town at sunset. The sun's rays become redder and discolor the thin clouds in the sky. On the right-hand side of the composition is the Doge's Palace, also illuminated by the reddish evening light, with the brighter Ponte di Paglia leading towards Molo San Marco. Many figures enrich the composition and allude to a lively summer evening. (1401624) (19)
