Jean Peské, 1870 Perwomaisk, Ukraine – 1949 Le Mans, Frankreich LE PARC D'ALLONVILLE, PRES D'AMIENS Oil on canvas. 60.5 x 81.5 cm. Signed "Peské" lower left. In a magnificent gilt frame. View of the park of the northern French municipality, which is named on an old label on the verso. Standing in the center are several oversized trees with bright yellow-orange foliage. The trees, more of which can be seen on the left and right edges, are surrounded by fresh green meadows on which several figures can be seen, serving as a size comparison. High-quality, atmospheric painting with a quick brushstroke and bold colors. The artist began his training in Kiev and continued it at the academies of fine arts in Odessa and Warsaw. He went to France in 1891. His artistic friends included Paul Signac (1863-1935), Camille Pissaro (1830-1903) and Pierre Bonnard (1867-1947). After 1900, he found his place among the Post-Impressionists and began to paint in the open air.(1401541) (18)
