COURTLY EQUESTRIAN SOCIETY AT A PICNIC IN THE COUNTRYSIDE Oil on mahogany. 20.5 x 30 cm. Signed lower left, dated "1887", inscribed "München". This subject is one of the painter's preferred motifs. In an extremely delicate technique, he depicts two horsemen and a lady on a white horse at rest, awaited by a courtly picnic party. Elegance, silk costumes and the events are depicted narratively, in keeping with the late Romantic-historical style of painting. (14010238) (11)
