VENUS, FLORA AND A BACCHANT PAY HOMAGE TO A DIONYSOSHERME Gouache on paper, mounted on wood. 39 x 31 cm. Behind glass, in richly carved and gilded original frame. In a sunlit landscape with the remains of ancient buildings, the beautiful nude Venus seated on a red cloth holding a censer in her hands, behind her a Bacchante playing music and next to him Flora with a bluish cloak, holding a large basket of flowers. To the left, standing on a stone pedestal, is a large Dionysus herm to which they are paying homage. In addition, two children with baskets filled with grapevines on the left and right edges of the picture. Fine, high-quality depiction. (1380471) (18)
