Embedded in a hilly to rugged, rocky landscape with a pressed tree staffage whose outline is adapted to the childlike nature of John and Jesus, a figure of John lying to the left with his attributes lamb, cross staff and a baptismal shell, as well as a figure of Jesus lying to the right with a shepherd's crook and numerous sheep.
