THE CHILD JESUS IS HANDED THE INSTRUMENTS OF TORTURE Oil on copper. 38 x 30.5 cm. Unframed. Enclosed is an expertise by Alessandro Delpriori, Matelica, undated. In copy. The triangular composition with the Holy Family and angels in the middle of a landscape with a tree on the right and a viaduct on the left. Christ is seated on Mary's lap, holding a small cross in one hand and grasping his instruments of torture with the other, thus referring to his death on the cross. In luminous polychromy, he imitates the compositions of his teacher Maratta. In his expert opinion he refers to several comparative examples. (14008911) (13)
