Tommaso Masselli, Maler des 18. Jahrhunderts

Painting pair VEDUTEN Oil on wood. Each 20.5 x 26.5 cm. Each titled, signed and dated verso, one "Roma... 1792". The first painting shows the view of St. Peter's Square with the obelisk, the two fountains and St. Peter's Basilica from an elevated point in the city. Numerous small staffage figures populate the square. The second painting shows Trajan's Column rising into the sky with the surrounding relief, and on the right the Church of the Most Holy Name of Mary with its large dome. Two carriages and a few figures can be seen in the surrounding square. Veduta depictions typical of Rome in a restrained, predominantly beige-brown color scheme. Retouching. (1401833) (18)
