Giuseppe Zais, 1709 Forno di Canale – 1784 Treviso

Pair of paintings LANDSCAPES WITH ANCIENT RUINS AND FIGURES Oil on canvas. Each 52 x 70 cm. In gilt frames. Accompanied by an expertise by Dr. Federica Spadotto (copy available). One painting shows two women and a man at a fountain under a blue and white sky in a mountainous landscape, behind them an ancient stone bridge leading over a river to a town. On the right, a horseman and a woman carrying laundry on her head are seen from behind. The other picture shows three men in a landscape in front of the remains of an ancient building, trying to move an ancient column with a broken capital next to it. The picture is also enlivened on the left by two figures seen from behind. Painting in predominantly beige-brown and blue colors, color accents only set by the yellow-red and blue garments of the figures shown. Sporadic rest. Literature: Cf.
