Old paper label, probably dating from the end of the 18th or beginning of the 19th century, inscribed "Schule des Francesco Solimena ..." and with the biblical quotation reference "1. Buch Mose, Kapitel 19" on the verso of the canvas cover. The two daughters are pouring their father's wine from a chalice, with the burning city of Sodom and Lot's wife frozen to a pillar of salt in the background on the right. The gracefulness of the girls' faces and the softness of the colors are particularly noteworthy.
