Toni von Stadler, eigentlich „Anton von Stadler“, 1850 Göllersdorf – 1917 München

SUNNY LANDSCAPE WITH TOWER Oil on wood. 22 x 23 cm. Signed "T. Stadler" and dated "1911" lower right. In this painting, Stadler uses an impasto application of paint to depict a sunny slope, interrupted only by a few darker bushes and a fence, which runs horizontally through the entire composition and points to a past human presence. In the distance there are rocky outcrops, small trees and a keep. In his landscape painting, Stadler strove for the simplest natural motifs and addressed the relationship between civilization and the forces of nature. He drew on the tradition of the Paysage intime and absorbed numerous inspirations and influences, which are recognizable in the characteristic forms in his paintings. (14010220) (19)
