SENSUAL FEMALE NUDE WITH CLOTH Oil on hardboard. 80.7 x 65.2 cm. Signed lower right. In wide gilded frame. Against a light blue background, the three-quarter portrait of a young, nude, slender lady, half-portrait with curly hair. Her upper body erect and slightly bent forward, her arms raised, holding a white scarf. She has bright red lips and closed eyes, her face is turned to her right, distracting herself from the viewer's perspective. Beginning his career as a landscape painter, Domergue quickly became a painter of nude and semi-nude pinups, which established his artistic reputation. Known for his silhouettes with long swan necks, Domergue dedicated his painting to the image of the sensual, flirtatious woman. His inspiration can be found in the painter Giovanni Boldini (1842-1931), who also designed dresses and advertising posters. Small retouching.
