THE STOP AT THE FOUNTAIN Oil on wood. 33 x 24 cm. In an elaborately decorated with ornamental relief gilded frame. Horse and man from a group of travelers in oriental garb are feeding at an architecturally designed watering hole surrounded by trees. In the consignor tradition, the painting is attributed to Eugène Fromentin. Works by his hand are represented in the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, among others. Literature: Cf.
