Description

Alexander Koester, 1864 Bergneustadt – 1932 München DUCKS IN A SHADY POND Oil on canvas, mounted on cardboard. 26.5 x 46 cm. Signed "A. KOESTER" lower right. In carved golden frame. The painting shows a large group of white and green-brown ducks on a tranquil pond framed with flowers. The artist has atmospherically set the scene in gray-green, harmoniously coordinated tones, including a dark palette in the shadow areas. The artist's style can be recognized and determined by his impasto application of paint and his broad and coarse brushwork. This creates a very lively image of a group of ducks. Annotation: Stamp of the artist's estate on the reverse and stamp of the former owners "Thielemann, Ulm" (photos enclosed, not visible in the frame). (14008920) (19) Alexander Koester, 1864 Bergneustadt - 1932 Munich DUCKS IN A SHADY POND Oil on canvas, laid on cardboard. 26.5 x 46 cm. Signed "A. KOESTER" lower right. Notes: Stamp from the artist's estate and former owner "Thielemann, Ulm" (photos enclosed, not visible in frame) on the reverse.
