RECLINING FEMALE NUDE Pastel on canvas. 54.5 x 81 cm. Signed and numbered "180" lower right. Framed under glass. Delicate back nude of a beautiful woman, lying on a light fur, in front of a gray wall. The lady draws her legs and her back forward and rests her head on her arm. Sieffert was a figure and nude painter who learned painting in the studio of Jean-Léon Gérome (1824-1904). His painting is recognized for its delicate colour palette, precise rendering of anatomy and the uniformity of his subjects. Portrait and nude painter, pupil of Gérôme. He was awarded the Rome Prize in 1902.
