RUSSIAN MUSICIAN COUPLE PLAYING BALALAIKA Oil on canvas. 113 x 87 cm. The painter's oval studio stamp lower right. The painting is large-format, perhaps created as a commissioned work, but not completely finished, creating a sketch-like impression. The golden crown hood with veil, the red smock with short collar and the man's boots suggest a Russian couple, possibly painted on the occasion of a wedding feast. The style and brushwork clearly point to the aforementioned painter, which was also thankfully confirmed by Ivo Bouwman.
