ELEGANT YOUNG MAN WITH WALKING STICK AND GREYHOUND Oil on canvas. 196 x117 cm. Monogrammed "WB" and dated "1909" lower right. In whitewashed fluted frame. Full-length depiction of a young man standing in contrapposto on a path with trees depicted in central perspective, in his hand a walking stick only slightly breaking the alignment of the path, next to him a sitting greyhound. Since Bondy was able to acquire two works by Van Gogh in France, he adopted basic features of his style, which is well expressed in this magnificent painting. Provenance: Family of the artist. Art dealer, Berlin. Private collection, Saarbrücken. Exhibition: The painting was probably exhibited at the Galerie Thannhauser in Munich, 1910-1911.
