ARCADIAN LANDSCAPE WITH PASTORAL IDYLL AMONG ANCIENT MONUMENTS Oil on canvas. 81 x 101 cm. Signed and dated "1695" on the pyramid base. In the lower center of the depiction a group of shepherds with cattle and sheep at a stone fountain with an obelisk-like, figuratively carved top. Next to it is another antique vase on a high pedestal and a tall column stump. The ancient monuments against the background of a group of trees in the late evening light. On the left, the Roman landscape of ruins moves backwards, covered by clouds illuminated in the evening. The pair of shepherds are depicted in gesticulating movement, with a monkey riding a donkey in between as an original touch.
